One of Deborah's haiku was awarded an honorable mention in the 2014 Kiyoshi and Kiyoko Tokutomi Haiku Contest sponsored each year by the Yuki Teikei Haiku Society.
another blue sky, another day without you . . . apple blossom rain - Deborah P Kolodji Honorable Mention, 2014 This contest is a traditional contest, requiring a syllable count of 5-7-5, plus a kigo from the published list of contest kigo for that year. The 2014 kigo were: New Year: toasting the new year, first calligraphy Spring: apple blossoms, lamb Summer: early summer rain, fly-fishing Autumn: rising moon, chrysanthemum Winter: withered garden, wren The first place went to Linda Papanicolaou, second place to Gregory Longenecker, and third place to Mimi Ahern. The 2014 judges were Makoto Nakanishi and Kaoru "Hana" Fujimoto.
